national powerlifting championships

We’re delighted that the IDFPA National Powerlifting Championships are coming back to Ardee on 15th and 16th August.

Last time, there were over 110 competitors, which was a great turnout. This year is expected to be even better with up to 400 competing over the weekend.

The sport has seen a sharp rise of interest over the last couple of years, and it’s not just men that are taking part. The forthcoming competition is set to host over 100 female competitors.

Also competing for the first time in the championships will be para-bench pressers. This competition will be held on the Sunday (16th August).

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay around Ardee, here are a few suggestions:

Crowne Plaza, Dundalk – Useful if you’re travelling down from the North.

City North Hotel – Located just off the M1 motorway from Dublin, will be a good stopping point for those travelling from Dublin and beyond.

The Railway Bar, Ardee – In the heart of Ardee, it would be a great location for the early mornings.

Setanta House, Ardee – Conveniently located on the main street of Ardee.

Woodview B&B, Ardee – Set just outside the town, another great location.

As the weeks count down, we will being you as much up-to-date information as possible. You can also keep an eye out on the IDFPA website.
